Who We Are

We are JMU Dodgeball. We bring the classic childhood playground game to the collegiate level, and then some. We hope you like being a part of a big family, because at a roster of 70 members, an 'extended family' would be putting it lightly. We help out the community, we raise our own funds, and we compete at the highest level, which is why we are back-to-back NCDA National Semifinalists. Can you be the next member that helps us bring home our first national championship?

National Collegiate Dodgeball Association

We compete in the National Collegiate Dodgeball Association, the premiere collegiate dodgeball association in the United States. We play teams across the nation from the heartland of Texas to the Windy City.

Every year we set up a number of tournaments and round robins that form our regular season, and our season ends by qualifying for NCDA Nationals which in the 2018-19 season will be held at Grand Valley University in Michigan.

We are in the East Coast region of the NCDA, so we frequent local rivalries against teams like VCU, Towson, University of Maryland, and Penn State as well as big time NCAA D1 programs Kentucky, Michigan State, Ohio State, & Nebraska.

Our Membership

Our co-ed roster comprises of 70 members every semester. We hold tryouts at the beginning of every semester and allow a number of people on that corresponds to our open roster spots.

We practice two times a week, times and locations are posted at the bottom of the webpage. Most of our practices are team only, however if you approach an exec member we are more than willing to let you play!

Dues for 2019-20 season are $75 a semester, this covers practices, equipment, tournament and league fees and some travel expenses. For every tournament you attend, we may have a separate fee which will be made known by our treasurer. The more money we fund raise throughout the year means the less that we have to spend going on these trips!

In order to retain member status for our team, we require:

  • Full or Part-time student status at James Madison University

  • Attend 50% or more practices, fundraising and social events throughout the year

  • Complete five community service hours a year registered, and have them registered through the team

  • Be up to date with dues

Sponsorships

We are always looking to engage local and national businesses to sponsor our team, we can think of many different ways to promote your business through tournaments, apparel, or any option you might seem fit with our team. If you think your business might be interested in this, please feel free to contact us at jamesmadisondodgeball@gmail.com.
